The 2012 German Brain Bee was held at Heidelberg University on Saturday, May 12th, sponsored by the HBIGS PhD Graduate Program and CellNetworks, a prestigious research community, both of Heidelberg University. After an entire afternoon of neuroanatomy and neurohistology, neurological disorder diagnoses, and hundreds of live questions about the brain and human nervous systems, Sofia Amontova was named the German Brain Bee National Champion! As an 11th grader from Helmholtz-Gymnasium in Heidelberg, Sofia represented the Republic of Germany at the International Brain Bee neuroscience competition in Cape Town, South Africa in late July this year.
